I brought in an old 22" GT Pantera triple triangle mountain bike frame with the intention of completely rebuilding it. The gentleman who took on this project with me was very helpful and quite patient with the ideas I had. He went to great lengths I might add, above and beyond what I had expected. In all, the bike is completed and everything I wanted done, was done perfectly. 5 star service without a doubt. Showed up at this shop on desperate measures, was on a 10 day self contained trip and one of our riders did a header and had some bike damage. These guys took care of us right away, recommended a great restaurant to eat at while we waited, and did an awesome job of fixing the damaged bike at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend this shop, guys are very knowledgeable and their gear is top notch! Great experience with bike rentals. Owner went out of his way to ensure all our desires and questions were handled. I definitely will be a return customer. I dropped my bike off for a tune-up and was told it would be completed by the following week on a Wednesday. Never received a call as I was told I would, so I called. Was told it was next in que for the following day, Thursday, and they would be calling me when completed. Again I never was called, so I called back at weeks end, Friday prior to closing. The owner, who was the person giving me all these updates the whole time told me it wasn't cometed and that he "might" be able to get to it on Saturday. Decided to just pick up my bile and take my service elsewhere since he offered no apology for the delays, not to mention an estimated $200+ to just turn a few screws and lube it up. Didn't mention how disorganized they were every time I called for an update, took them 10 minutes just to find my records. When I picked my bike up the owner didn't offer any apologies, pretty much confirming that he could'nt care less that he was losing my business for good. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Perhaps he only caters to people spending $5k on a bike, but as for my $200 he didn't seem to care, so the Palmer bike shop will get all my future business. This is a nicely run family business with a highly qualified staff, and a good selection of bikes and accessories for all skill levels. Are you going to pay a little bit more than what you can buy things for online??? Yes, but it's worth the extra cost for the expertise, great customer service. and to keep small businesses alive in our communities.
