Best Vacation Ever! My dad, brother and I went fly fishing in June of 2013 at Intricate Bay Lodge. The food, guides, and service was incredible. The fishing was unimaginably good. Dry fly and streamer fishing for 16-28 inch. We each had a 100 fish day. Pretty surreal. I'd do it all over again! We have been guests at Intricate Bay Lodge twice previously. Not only are the fishing guides excellent, knowing just where to go and how to connect us with the finest possible Alaskan rainbow trout and salmon fishing that our dreams are made of, but each member of the staff associated with this operation makes an effort above and beyond expectations to be sure that every guest has the most enjoyable stay possible. Being a smaller lodge than many in Alaska, we receive personal attention each and every day. At other lodges we have visited previously we were shuffled around because of the higher number of guests, not having the opportunity to fish the best spots because another group from the lodge was there, or not able to return to a highly productive spot for a second day because other guests from our lodge were rotated in. Having to wait for an airplane or boat to return from dropping other guests before we could start our day. It is the polar opposite of feeling like a number, no one knowing your name except the guide you fished with that day. At Intricate Bay Lodge we are made to feel like honored members of the family. Brian Harry and his staff are hard working and knowledgeable. They make it all look so easy. We dread having to leave this beautiful spot at the end of the week, but our group members speak excitedly throughout the year of our anticipated return. We have great memories that will be with us forever. For us, the trip has become an ongoing yearly event. I highly recommend Intricate Bay Lodge as a fantastic Alaskan experience. Whether you are a hard core fly fisherman or first time novice. Interested in seeing all the glorious wildlife not only including grizzly bears and more salmon than you dreamed possible. Maybe you are simply looking to just get away from it all for a few relaxing days having no commitments, great company and finishing each day after a wonderful evening meal on their deck overlooking Lake Iliamna and the awe inspiring sunsets. Life is short!
