Great setting. Lots of privacy, very clean and comfortable. We have stayed at Creekside Cabins' various locations for over 10 years now, and we just live a few miles up the road from the closest one. They make great winter weekend getaways- they are quiet, immaculately clean and very nicely appointed. The full kitchens are a huge plus, and we always leave wishing we could just stay another day. We highly recommend them to anyone needing a place to stay in the valley. A local friend rented this cabin for us before we arrived. We called Diane two weeks before arriving in Alaska to let her know we wanted to bring our dog with us since we were staying for a month. We also told her we had a friend who might stay a few nights in-between his camping and traveling from town to town. This happened to be on a night when Diane’s daughter was having complications with a kidney stone and being rushed to the ER. We politely listened to her worries and wished her health and well-being. Diane thanked us for calling and letting her know our plans and said she would wave our pet fee. She also said that we could tally up how many nights total our friend stayed at the cabin and could pay her at the end of the trip. When we arrived at the cabin Diane met us and showed us around. She stated that she felt we were hiding our friend and dog from her and lying about him staying with us. So she charged us $800 upfront in addition to the full month rental then left. Our friend was upset as were we and said he wouldn’t stay there having seen the loft and met this woman on moral principle. He insisted we not give this woman any more money and wanted us to get our money back, so we did. We did pay the pet fee that she initially told us she would wave. This particular cabin is only feet off the Palmer Wasilla hwy and the road noise is a constant day and night presence easily heard in the cabin and anywhere on the property. The location is not safe if you have small children. The loft in the cabin has a ladder that is not safe for use, and is not suitable for anyone to use of any age because of the ladder, the low ceiling, and no outlet for a fan in the summer. The cabin was on first pass otherwise what you would expect. We noticed right away the water produced rust stains in the bathroom and kitchen, and after a few days, I saw that my fingernails had started to turn orange from it. I scrubbed them, but they wouldn’t come clean. I called Diane to ask her about the rust in her water. She said that they would take care of it and thanked me for letting her know. About after a week I noticed my wedding ring stained with rust, I took it to the jeweler who couldn’t get it cleaned and said it might need to be reset. I sent two emails to Diane to follow up on the rust in her water. She still has not emailed me back (I’m now back home). I have white shirts that are ruined from rust water after being cleaned in her provider washer, and the stains won’t come out. Diane told us not to sit and watch Netflix all day (not our reason for coming, but we thought this was presumptive and rude) because she didn’t want her Internet bill to be high. There was mouse poop all over the porch, window sill, as well as fence construction that she didn’t tell us she was going to be doing while we were staying there. Spent a week at Creekside Cabins and enjoyed the stay and the hospitality. Will be back. I have nothing really negative to say about our experience with Creekside Cabins other than they were kind of difficult to find. It would be nice if there were a sign at the bottom of the driveway to direct you. I would not take small children to stay at Creekside because of the loft access ladder. If you are looking for a nice place to stay for a night or two and do not want the run-of-the-mill hotel experience, I recommend Creekside Cabins. There may be nothing markedly fancy and there may be a few quirks, but overall it's cheap (only $100 for a night during the winter months), beautiful scenery, close to Anchorage, and friendly service.
